New Mexico: police say man who blew red light and hit school bus was drunk

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – The driver of a truck who blew through a red light and hit a school bus was drunk, Carlsbad police are reporting. David W. Morgan of Carlsbad is scheduled to be arraigned in Municipal Court Monday on multiple charges including aggravated DWI. He is currently free on bond.  MORE

Missouri: Governor honors Top Cop for locking up record number of DWI drivers

Sergeant Blaine Adams has served with Troop E for 23 years. He currently patrols Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, and Scott Counties. Sgt. New Mexico: DWI driver emerging from lake was no mermaid; left her car in the lake!

The woman who drove her car into Lake De Montreville in Lake Elmo last summer has been convicted of drunken driving. Rebekah Hoeben, 27, of Brooklyn Park pleaded guilty to one count of gross misdemeanor DWI on Jan. 13 in Washington County District Court. She was sentenced to 40 days of electronic home monitoring and three years’ probation.

New York: Twice is nice for woman on one night’s drive

RED HOOK – State Police have arrested a New York City woman twice in one night for DWI. Police were called to the Elizaville Diner for an unruly patron. They were told a woman had come in and was unruly and intoxicated. The woman, identified as Patricia Saber, 53, of Bayside, Queens, was located in the Town of Red Hook and charged with DWI. Her BAC was .22 percent, police said. After being arraigned, she posted $500 bail, was released and instructed not to drive again that night

New Jersey: legislator to offer bill requiring refusal to blow count in sentencing for DWI

A New Jersey senator plans to introduce legislation that would make prior convictions for refusing a Breathalyzer test applicable when sentencing someone for a DWI.

The state Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that refusing a Breathalyzer could not be used when determining if someone is a repeat offender.

Martin, 27, of Brewster was charged with driving while intoxicated and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors, around 3:15 a.m. today on Doansburg Road in Southeast. A passenger, Robert J. DiMaggio, 27, of Pawling, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, after he was found with a quantity of suspected cocaine, police said. New York: woman gets 2-6 years in DWI assault; hurt one victim in wreck, bit witness who tried to keep her from fleeing

During her sentencing in Westchester County Court in White Plains, the 26-year-old New Rochelle resident was ordered to serve two to six years in state prison for her behavior on the night of Sept. 28, 2009 Walsh was driving drunk on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers when she ran two red lights and plowed into the driver’s side of a car near Underhill Street, police said.

Texas: fired Dallas cop found not guilty for DWI; faces long road to returning to job

Dwight Govan cried tears of joy late Thursday as a six-member jury acquitted the former Dallas police officer of driving while intoxicated.
The verdict came after his attorney, George Milner III, successfully argued that the prosecutors had not proven he was drunk at the time he was behind the wheel.
Govan, who was fired in September, would say only that he was happy about the verdict.
Still, he faces a long road ahead as he tries to reclaim his job on the force.  MORE

Louisiana: 3-time DWI driver should have stuck to sniffing glue

Police reports stated the suspect, Blake Garland, of 100 Garden Lane, was stopped for speeding, driving 43 mph in a 30 mph zone, in West Monroe. Police said Garland traveled four blocks before stopping.
The officer reported Garland smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech.   MORE
