New Jersey: High School principal who was plastered when caught for DWI resigns his post

The Rev. Warren Hall, a 1981 graduate of the school who took over in September 2008, was charged with DWI on Jan. 27 when police said they saw him driving erratically near his home at the St. Aloysius rectory on West Side Avenue in Jersey City. Hall’s blood-alcohol level was .23, nearly three times the legal limit of .08, at the time of his arrest, police said. Sources with knowledge of the arrest said that Hall sideswiped at least one car and kept driving toward his home. Hall has not been charged with leaving the scene of an accident. “After much prayer and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down as president,” Hall said in a letter that went out to students, parents and alumni. “I believe it is the right decision both for my own personal good and for the overall good of the school at this time.”   …MORE

Minnesota: 3rd DWI and road rage gets man probation from Judge Diane

A 36-year-old Belle Plaine man was sentenced to probation last week after a road-rage incident turned into his third DWI conviction in three years.  Judge Diane Hanson sentenced Aaron Jon Carlson to a stay of adjudication with up to five years of probation for a fleeing police. A stay of adjudication means the court didn’t make a final ruling of guilt, but sentenced Carlson on the charge.  …MORE

Louisiana: drunk college kid failed his field sobriety test when he plowed into police car

Minnesota: More than 1,400 drivers were popped for DWI over Super Bowl weekend from 2007 to 2009

(AP) – The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says there will be added officers on the road over Super Bowl weekend, in search of drunken drivers.  Authorities say more than 1,400 motorists were arrested for drunken driving during Super Bowl weekends from 2007 through 2009.
