Texas: only 4 kids in the vehicle with drunk daddy? Alert police officer may have saved their lives!

LUFKIN, TX ( – A Lufkin police officer may have saved the lives of four children Saturday night when he stopped a suspected drunk driver.
According to Corporal Trent Sobolewski with LPD, around 11 PM, Officer Glawson spotted a car driving erratically northbound on South First St.
The officer observed the car swerve, even hitting a flower pot. When the driver, Anthony Bruton, 20 of Lufkin, stopped for police, he rolled into a ditch.
Sobolewski said the officer saw Bruton showing signs of being intoxicated, and was arrested.  The misdemeanor was enhanced to a state jail felony since there were four kids under 15 in the car. ….MORE

New Hampshire: State police round up 15 DWI arrests in one night as they celebrate St. Patty’s Day their way

MEREDITH, NH (March 21, 2011)  — State Police were out enforce during the overnight period following St. Patrick’s Day Thursday, and they reported multiple driving while intoxicated and drug possessions charges.
There were two locals charged out of 15 total.
Pamela Chandonnait, 47, of Laconia, was charged with DWI, by State Police Troop E based in Tamworth.
Erin Hughes, 21, of Meredith, was charges with DWI by the Troop A Barracks based in Epping.
No location was listed in any of the arrests.
State Troopers certified as drug recognition experts were deployed statewide in concentrated patrols aimed at providing a safe travel environment on the states roadways.

Involved: (A) Donald Lanterman Jr, Flanders NJ, 41, M
New Jersey (March 21, 2011) — Mount Olive Police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle crash which involved an overturned vehicle. Upon patrol arrival they located a single vehicle crash where a 2001 Dodge pickup came to final rest upon the passenger side of the vehicle on the embankment of the river.
Patrol determined that Mr. Donald Lanterman Jr. 41, of Flanders, NJ, was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Police say that Mr. Lanterman was not injured but exhibited signs of impairment due to alcohol consumption at which time he completed field sobriety tests.
Mr. Lanterman was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he submitted to a chemical breath test and was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane. He was released from police custody to a sober driver and has a pending court appearance.

MONTICELLO – A Swan Lake man facing a felony driving while intoxicated charge showed up to Sullivan County Court on Monday with a bag full of beer and was promptly thrown in jail without bail.
Keith Gruber, 49, had a scheduled 10:30 a.m. pretrial hearing.
Gruber came to court about an hour and a half late carrying a black bag that contained four cans
of Busch beer. He also was carrying an open can of Busch beer and was drunk, authorities say.

A Shreveport police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge Sunday.

California: woman ran out of gas but not booze

A suspected drunken driver caught because she’d run out of gas on Highway 101 and another who drifted into a parked car were two of several people arrested over the weekend by the CHP.
Officer patrolling Highway 101 near the Rohnert Park Expressway early Saturday stopped to help what appeared to be a disabled motorist, Officer Jon Sloat reported Monday.
The driver told officers she’d run out of gas. Because she appeared to have been drinking, she was given a sobriety test, which she failed.
Officers arrested Lesley Haylock, 48, of Santa Rosa. Haylock had been convicted of drunken driving previously and was on probation when arrested at about 1 a.m. Saturday…..MORE

South Carolina: Highway Patrol ran 4 checkpoints and removed 11 drunk drivers from highways in weekend effort

ROCK HILL (March 21, 2011) – Troopers arrested 11 people for driving under the influence this weekend at checkpoints on Interstate 77 and Highway 49.
The DUI crack down in York County was one of four operations across the state, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
