- An 18-year-old man faces a long list of charges, including vehicular homicide, after he hit and killed a father of two Sunday.
Police alleged the man who hit and killed 36-year-old William Marshall smelled like marijuana. An affidavit said he had slurred speech and glassy eyes moments after the crash.
Marshall checked his mailbox just before noon Sunday. Investigators alleged 18-year-old Samer Sakaan was driving under the influence at a high rate of speed.
Sakaan tried to pass a car on a curvy, two-lane Cordova road. He hit the car and drove off Walnut Bend Road. He kept going into the grass and slammed into Marshall. ….MORE

A 14-year-old victim in a suspected drunk-driving accident early Sunday morning suffered irreversible brain damage and was being kept on life support so doctors could assess whether her organs could be donated, according to Irvine police.
Police identified the victim as Ashton Sweet, a student at Northwood High School.
She was one of four girls, all 14 or 15, riding in Mercedes-Benz driven by one of their fathers around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when it collided with a Toyota pickup near the intersection of Culver Drive and Irvine Boulevard, police said. ….MORE

As they were on Friday and Saturday, Southampton Police were out Sunday night keeping a close on the roadways as part of a beefed up DWI effort.
At around 6 p.m. on Sunday, police arrested Jonathan Owen, 30 of Setauket for DWI. He was caught after police said he rain a red light on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.
Police then stopped Marques Demoura, 28 of New Jersey for insufficient taillights on Dune Road in East Quogue. Police say that after an investigation, they found that he was under the influence of alcohol. ….MORE

WESTMORELAND —A Westmoreland woman faces numerous charges, including driving while intoxicated, after she lost control of her ATV, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said.
Susan Switzer, 48, was driving a 2008 Polaris ATV northward on Dean’s Highway in Westmoreland at about 7 p.m. Sunday when she lost control of the vehicle, was ejected and landed on the paved roadway, deputies said.
Switzer was not wearing a helmet and sustained a head injury, deputies said. She was transported by Central Oneida County Ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica for treatment. Her injuries are not life threatening. …..MORE

ELK GROVE, CA – Two women are now in jail for a drunk driving accident that left a young man dead, says Elk Grove Police.
According to Officer Chris Trim, 20-year-old Heile Gantan lost control of her red BMW while traveling south on Power Inn Road near Blue Maiden Way around 4:30 Sunday morning.  ….MORE 
UPDATED: Elk Grove police arrested a 20-year-old woman who allegedly drove while intoxicated and crashed her car, killling a passenger on May 29. Authorities say that she and a passenger left the victim at the crash site before officers arrived.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the corner of Power Inn Road and Blue Maiden Way in north Elk Grove.
Suspect Heile Gantan of Elk Grove is charged with committing vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a collision, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. ….MORE

Florida: Boozing babe blasted & boomed through bedroom

PORT RICHEY – The aftermath looked like a natural disaster.
A man who was home at the time said it sounded like one.
“I heard a loud crash, boom I thought it was a tornado, I thought it was the end of the world,” said John Rauchbauer.
What sounded like the end of the world was actually a Honda sedan being driven straight through Rauchbauer’s home.
“The fireman said 23 years on the force he has never seen a car go straight through a house,” said Rauchbauer.
Investigators say this all started at a nearby bowling alley.  That’s where they believe Jessica Leija had a little too much to drink. ….MORE
