ALBUQUERQUE  – Last May, Albuquerque police found Andrew Durán passed out behind the wheel of his car with the engine running.
When the cops woke him, they say he took off around the corner and plowed over a bush next to the sidewalk. Officers found him digging pieces of the bush from the grill of his car, according to a police report.
Duran, 26, admitted to popping pain pills and driving and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. But Duran got off scot-free and never

New Mexico: official in charge of DWI prevention program busted for DWI…yippie, ki, yippie, yay!

Rheganne L. Vaughn, 43, whose Luna County job involved overseeing the county’s DWI prevention program, was arrested by State Police late in the evening of May 7 for alleged driving under the influence, The Deming Headlight reported.
Vaughn, who is director of Luna County Health and Welfare, overseeing the county’s grant-funded programs, was booked at the Luna County Detention Center at 3 a.m. May 8 and was released on bond, according to The Headlight.
It was Vaughn’s second DWI arrest, according to State Police….MORE

Argyle mayoral candidate Matt Smith is hoping voters can overlook his current legal issues and still vote to elect him.
Smith, 36, is facing a charge of driving while intoxicatedfrom a January arrest in Flower Mound.
Denton attorney Rick Hagen said Smith’s case is pending and he and his client plan to dispute it.
“Matt has been a citizen of Argyle all his life,” Hagen said. “He is a man of honor, and this case should in no way impact the decision a voter

Maryland: Ravens linebacker gets plea deal for DWI; NFL to Kindle —read this bozo…NO BOOZE FOR YOU!

Ravens linebacker Sergio Kindle will not receive jail time after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence, and Howard County District Court Judge Edward Axel ruled that he had taken the appropriate steps to get treatment.
Kindle, a second-round draft pick last year, spent five days at an inpatient treatment facility, which Axel believed supplants the mandatory five-day jail sentence for second-time DUI offenders.
Kindle was also ordered to abstain from alcohol and attend self-help meetings.
According to reports, Axel said the linebacker is classified as a “stage-two” offender in the NFL’s alcohol and drug policy, meaning he would be subject to 10 random urinalysis tests before the lockout.  ….MORE

Florida: wild woman leaves trail of death over 2 counties when stopped for DUI

Hudson, Florida – A pursuit across two Florida counties left a motorcyclist dead, a rookie deputy injured, and a woman arrested, all after she
was pulled over for a DUI traffic stop that triggered a wild and dangerous chase.
Investigators say Deputy Ashley Grady, a 23-year-old rookie with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department, stopped a pickup truck Tuesday morning on suspicion
of DUI, reported CBS affiliate WTSP.
The driver, 21-year-old Brittany Miles, was taken out of the vehicle and placed in handcuffs, but somehow managed to get back inside and tried speeding
off.
“She somehow got back in the car and drove in handcuffs until she was stopped in Hernando County,” said Pasco Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Doll….MORE
