Florida Highway Patrol says a Suwannee County Deputy Sheriff was hit in a Saturday evening, alcohol related crash.
Troopers say at 10:10 p.m.on May 21, 53-year-old Pedro Leyva was traveling northbound on State Road 51 in a 2008 Nissan Altima sedan
FHP says 43-year-old Gary Edwards was heading northbound on State Road 51 in front of Leyva’s sedan, in a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck. …MORE

HOUSTON WKRX report:  alcohol and speed at play in fatal wreck  on freeway
According to Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Drake, a crash which took place on the Northwest Freeway, U. S. 290, at 2:03 am on May 22, 2011 was caused by a driver of a pickup truck speeding into the rear of a Chevy Tahoe and then rotating several times before leaving the main lanes of the highway and rolling over several times in a field.
The operator of the pickup truck was identified as Moises Caudillo, who was taken by life flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say that the driver of the Tahoe was not injured.

A 35-year-old Murrieta woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in connection with a crash earlier this month that killed her roommate, authorities said.
Nicole Elyce Campbell was driving a 2005 Nissan Sentra home about 12:15 a.m. May 1, after an evening watching UFC fights, when she lost control on a turn and ran off the road near Guava Street and Adams Avenue in Murrieta, police said.
The car drove into a drainage canal and rolled over, a Murrieta Police Department news release said.
Michael Leroy Keeler, 31, who was riding in the passenger seat, died at the scene, a coroner’s news release said.  …MORE
