PELHAM – When Houdini trotted away from her new owners last weekend, no one thought the cow would be in for the shock of a lifetime.The cow’s owner, Wendy Bordeleau, said a Pelham Police officer inappropriately shot the animal with a Taser multiple times. She has asked Police Chief Joseph Roark to better train officers to deal with similar situations and demanded to see the computer data Tasers store regarding how many times it was fired.“I want them to own up to their mistake, really, and admit that they really shouldn’t have reacted this way,” Bordeleau said.Police said the officer was within his rights and had to consider motorists’ safety.“In my opinion, it was a wise call,” Pelham Police Lt. Tennessee: Knoxville woman charged with providing alcohol to teen who then killed his passenger in crash

A second arrest has been made following an April car accident that killed 15-year old Brandon Melton.
49-year old Jean Lenz of Knoxville was recently arrested on a charge of unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor.
According to a state police press release, Lenz is accused of providing alcohol to people involved in the April 22 fatal accident.
19-year old Jose Beltran of Gilson was driving with three passengers when his car struck a utility pole and rolled several times.
Melton was pronounced dead at the scene and two other 15-year olds were transported to a hospital and treated for injuries…..MORE

Missouri: cop charged with stealing federal funds designated for DWI overtime; money gone, no DWI effort for 2.5 years!

A former Jennings police lieutenant faces charges of stealing federal money meant to pay officers overtime to conduct drunk driving checkpoints.
Shawn Lane, 36, of the 2100 block of Cherry Hills Lane in St. Charles, is expected to appear in St. Louis County Circuit Court on Wednesday to be formally read three charges of stealing over $500 by deceit. Lane was indicted last month.
Last fall, the city of Jennings asked St. Louis County police to take command of its police department in wake of the federal state investigation into the missing public money. At the time, Jennings Mayor Benjamin C. Sutphin said thousands of dollars in grant money was paid to several city officers in recent years for overtime work on sobriety checkpoints that was never performed. The department had not conducted a single DWI checkpoint for about 2 ½ to three years, he said…..MORE

Texas: Dallas Police Department fires two officers following DWI arrests

Officer Brandy Lindsay, #8774, was arrested for DWI on November 7, 2010 by officers from the Murphy Police Department. During a traffic stop for speeding the officers came to believe she was driving while intoxicated. A blood test showed her blood alcohol concentration to be 0.14. Officer Lindsay was assigned to the Northeast Patrol Bureau and had been on the Dallas Police Department since February 2006.

Officer Jason Rowland, #8052, was arrested for DWI on March 15, 2011 by officers from the Hickory Creek Police Department. During a traffic stop for speeding the officers came to believe he was driving while intoxicated. Officer Rowland declined to provide breath or blood specimens, but acknowledged having consumed two alcoholic drinks at a restaurant prior to the traffic stop. Officer Rowland was assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division and had been on the Dallas Police Department since July 2001.

New York: State Police snag boozers leaving Phish Concert in DRAGNET

A New York State Police saturation patrol near Darien Lake Theme Park resulted in DWI charges against five people Wednesday.
The arrests came before, during and after a Phish concert that drew about 20,000 people to Darien Wednesday.
Charged were:
— Brian K. Mullen, 35, of Ulster, Pa. He was stopped at 6:10 p.m. for driving on the shoulder of Route 77. He was charged with DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation and open container. He was arraigned in Town Court and committed to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.
— Christine L. Guiher, 39, of Tonawanda, was charged with DWI after she was stopped about 10:30 p.m. on Sumner Road because her muffler was dragging on the road. She is to appear at a later date in Town Court.  ….MORE

Massachusetts: boozing broad kills man at 7 am on Interstate 93

ANDOVER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 21-year-old Lawrence woman has been charged with drunken driving following a highway crash that killed a 62-year-old man.
State police said Shayna Fernandez was speeding when her Acura collided with a Chevrolet Blazer shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 93 in Andover.
The driver of the Blazer, 62-year-old Francis O’Hanley of Saugus, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Two passengers in the vehicle were hospitalized with serious injuries after the crash……MORE

California: ex-cop shows up for DUI sentencing…drunk

SANTA ANA – A former Orange County sheriff’s deputy who was to be sentenced Friday for driving under the influence and crashing was taken into custody after he appeared to be drunk in court.
The sentencing was postponed and Orange County Superior Court Judge Frank Fasel increased the bail for Allan James Waters, 37, of Laguna Niguel, from $100,000 to $250,000. Waters pleaded guilty in April to 12 felonies, including driving under the influence and selling fake cocaine. ….MORE
