South Carolina: killer Franklin Bostic charged with 3 counts of felony DUI; wiped out young mother and two of her children

A man involved in a crash on a Jasper County road that killed a 29-year-old Ridgeland woman and two of her young sons this month was charged Thursday with three counts of felony DUI, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Franklin Bostic, 22, is in the Jasper County Detention Center with bond set at $300,000 after an investigation by the patrol’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team, according to Cpl. Bob Beres.
The maximum penalty for felony DUI is 25 years in prison, meaning Bostic could face a sentence of 75 years if convicted, Beres said.
Wendy Orozco Garcia and her 6-year-old son Frankie died in the Sept. 9 crash, after Bostic’s car crossed the center line and collided with the family’s car on S.C. 462, about four miles east of Ridgeland, Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls has said…..MORE

Texas: DWI killer could get probation! Family of victim wants the killer to get prison time

San Antonio– A San Antonio family torn apart by a drunk driver going the wrongway wants to see the defendant serve prison time.
Bethany Denmar, 25, pleaded guilty to charges of intoxication manslaughter. She is eligible for probation, but could face up to 20 years in prison.
Amy Meron, 53, was killed in the collision. Her teenage son and two other teens survived.
Amy Meron was a piano teacher and provided for her family. Her surviving husband, Ron, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2010, but started showing symptoms in 2002. ….MORE

GREENSBURG — A Mississippi man pleaded guilty Monday to vehicular homicide and vehicular negligent injuring in connection with a 2009 crash, according to a news release from 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

New York: Tia Gerstner’s beer & pot party ended with her killing her classmate in her 2nd DWI crash in 2 years; now she’s off to prison for up to 7 years

Tia Gerstner, who killed a classmate in a 2009 drunken driving crash, admitted today that she again drove drunk in May.
Gerstner, 20, of Rochester was sentenced today to 2 1/3 to seven years in state prison as part of a plea deal.
“No one anticipated you’d be back here on this type of charge,” state Supreme Court Justice Daniel Doyle told Gerstner and encouraged her to address her problems while in prison.

Missouri: Judge slashes bail for man charged with DWI death of teacher; he bails out free as a bird for 10 G’s

A Chesterfield man charged in the Aug. 26 car crash on Wild Horse Creek Road in Chesterfield that led to the death of Chesterfield school teacher Janet Esrock, was free on reduced bail Thursday afternoon.
Patrick McCormick, 53, left St. Louis County jail in Clayton after posting $10,000 or ten percent of his $100,000 bond. He turned himself in to St. Louis County police Wednesday afternoon.   ….MORE
