New York: guy with prior DWI conviction busts through fence in his SUV; cops say was texting and DUI

A Livingston County man was accused of driving drunk and texting while driving after he drove through a fence yesterday in Richmond, Ontario County.
Matthew Bartlett, 44, of Kellogg Road, Springwater, was charged last night with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all felonies, according to Ontario County sheriff’s deputies.
While driving north on Curtis Road, Bartlett was allegedly sending a text message on his mobile phone, deputies said. He lost control of his sport utility vehicle and drove off the road, through a fence and into a nearby field just before 4 p.m. ….MORE

Montana: police officer changed plea to guilty of DUI; given six months in jail, suspended, $800 fine

ANACONDA – An Anaconda police officer appeared Monday in justice court and admitted to driving drunk last September.
Tyler Deeks, 27, changed his plea to guilty on one count of DUI per se — first offense — based on an agreement with state prosecutors.
Deeks, a two-year veteran of the local force, also pleaded guilty to hitting an unattended vehicle along Main Street and failing to give notice of the accident by quickest means.
Justice of the Peace Larry Pahut sentenced Deeks to six months and 20 days in jail, with all time suspended, and $800 in total fines…MORE

California: two promising lives wiped out by Michael Sharp;police say he admitted inhaling nitrious oxide while driving

The toxicology report isn’t yet finished for the accident yet that killed two and injured a third Saturday on Folsom Boulevard. It will show for certain if Michael Sharp was high at the time of collision, and what he was high on.
But the prosecutor Tuesday said Sharp had already confessed that he was driving under the influence- under the influence of nitrous oxide.
Todd Ohlander and Chris Martell were brothers. One was a budding engineer, the other just shy of getting his commercial pilot’s license. ….MORE
