California: CHP says Brian Webb was DUI and wrong way on I-15 when he smashed man on Harley

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A wrong-way driver suspected of being drunk crashed head-on into a Harley-Davidson on Interstate 15 Saturday, killing the rider.
The fatal collision in northbound lanes, south of Via Rancho Parkway, about 12:35 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
“Brian Webb of Murrieta was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 when he entered northbound I-15 the wrong way from the northbound Del Lago offramp,” CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt stated.

Texas: Officer Josh Williams killed by drunk driver, 2nd officer death in week due to DWI drivers

WAXAHACHIE 
– A Waxahachie police officer, killed in a car crash, marks the second law enforcement death this week blamed on drunk driving.
Police say, 44-year-old Josh Williams, was responding to a report of a disturbance at a local fast food restaurant.
DPS troopers say, Williams was turning left crossing into a driveway, when a suburban headed in the opposite direction, with its headlights off, struck him.
“This is first officer I’ve lost in ten years, so it’s tough,” said Waxahachie Police Chief Chuck Edge.    …..MORE

Washington: Snohomish County Council Chairman Brian Sullivan charged with DUI

MUKILTEO, Wash. – Brian Sullivan, chairman of the Snohomish County Council and a former state lawmaker, was arrested Thursday night for investigation of DUI in Mukilteo, police said.
The incident began when Mukilteo police received a 911 call at about 7:50 p.m. reporting a suspected drunk driver heading south on the Mukilteo Speedway. The caller said the vehicle was “all over the road.”
Officers responded and caught up with the suspected drunk driver after he turned right at Chennault Beach Road and stopped in front of a business, said a Mukilteo police spokesperson. ….MORE

Maryland: Yolanda Murchison charged with DUI in crash injuring Howard Officer Ernest Newhouse; cops say she crashed into cruiser

A Howard County Police officer is hospitalized, and a Columbia woman faces DUI charges after an accident this morning in Laurel.
The crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Davis Avenue.
Police say Private First Class Ernest Newhouse was at the stop sign attempting to make a left turn onto Davis Avenue, when a driver jumped the curb, drove across the median, and struck the police car. ….MORE

California: civic group holds ‘Beer Olympics’ at bar just days after child killed going home from football practice

Ten days after 7-year-old Donovan Maldonado was killed going home from football practice by a suspected drunken driver in northeast Fresno, a local nonprofit will hold a Beer Olympics at the Crossroads bar.
The beneficiary of the fundraiser: children who need help paying fees to join athletic teams.
The Beer Olympics, if you don’t know, consist of drinking games such as beer pong, beer chug and beer crawl.
“I saw a need because it’s getting so expensive to play sports,” said Jackie Reyna, who founded Sanger-based All League Inc. in January. “The kids that we sponsor are required to attend an anti-bullying course and a nutrition class.” ….MORE
