California: Sutter Deputy Rory Roguski killed riding with a drunk driver; Erin Marie Jasper charged with felony DUI, manslaughter

A Sutter County sheriff’s deputy was killed late Wednesday, the apparent victim of a drunken driving collision near Smartsville.
Rory Roguski, 25, of Yuba City, was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said in a press release.
The driver, Erin Marie Jasper, of Oregon House, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
“This is a horrible tragedy,” Sheriff J. Paul Parker said Thursday. “The department is just stunned by it.”
Jasper, 26, was taken by air ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with unspecified minor injuries, the CHP said.
An update on her condition was not available and hospital officials could neither confirm nor deny Jasper was still a patient today.
Jasper has not been booked into the Yuba County Jail, authorities said. ….MORE

Intoxicated manslaughter charges have been filed against a 20 year old Magnolia driver who crashed his pickup, killing two people.
DPS Troopers say on October 26th, Brian Goetz was driving at more than twice the legal blood alcohol content limit and at high speed when he lost control of his truck, flipping the vehicle.
Three people were ejected, and two passengers died.
DPS officers say the accident happened around 10:30pm on October 26, on Nichols Sawmill Road in front of the Country Woods Subdivision.
First responders from the Magnolia Fire Department arrived at the scene within four minutes to find three victims, but later found a fourth almost twelve feet into the woods.
Troopers say clothing from one of the victims was found almost twelve feet off of the ground in nearby trees.

An Old Lyme woman who has been held on drunken driving charges since her involvement in a fatal crash on July 8 on Interstate 95 has been released from prison under strict supervision so that she can get her affairs in order.
State police charged Christiana Morton-Lane, 23, of Browns Lane, with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs following the crash at the southbound ramp to Exit 72.
According to a police report, Morton-Lane, who was driving a Ford Escort, went off the ramp and into the guardrail, then back onto the ramp and into the southbound travel lane, colliding with a motorcycle which was then struck by a second motorcycle. Motorcyclist Robert Burr, 35, of Clinton was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger and two others on the second motorcycle were hospitalized.
At Morton-Lane’s initial court appearance, a New London Superior Court judge set her bond at $100,000 in anticipation of an expected additional charge of manslaughter. She has been held in lieu of that bond at the Janet S. York Correctional Institution since the incident, but no new charges have been filed.

California: Rodrigo Lopez charged in DUI death of Ivanhoe man

One Ivanhoe man is dead and a second is in custody at a Fresno hospital following an early-morning head-on vehicle collision.
Rodrigo Lopez, 36, of Ivanhoe and the 56-year-old man pronounced dead at the scene had to be cut from their vehicles after the 3:30 a.m. accident on SR-216 north of El Rio Road.
Lopez was flown to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment of major injuries and is in custody at the hospital on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
