New York: Police charge David A. Smith with DWI rampage in to group of pedestrians; Jocelyn B. Elberson & Sheila Pelton lay dead

(Nov. 12, 2012) — The day after a Falls man plowed his motorcycle into a group of pedestrians in Amherst, killing two women, police are trying to determine how fast he was traveling and what exactly happened.
What police do know is that David A. Smith, 53, of Niagara Falls, veered off Tonawanda Creek Road and hit the three victims on the parallel bike path at about 3:20 p.m. The crash took place between Campbell Boulevard and Hopkins Road.
Jocelyn B. Elberson, 25, of the Town of Tonawanda, and Sheila Pelton, 81, of East Amherst were pronounced dead at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

GOSHEN – An accident took the life of an unidentified adult male when the car he was operating was struck by another vehicle while driving on Route 47.
According to police reports, police received several 9 -1-1 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on Route 47. Officers responding to the scene found a head-on crash with both cars in the southbound lane of the highway.
An initial investigation indicated a black Dodge Charger, driven by Robert DeMarco, 29, of Williamstown was traveling north on Route 47 when it left the northbound lane. DeMarco’s vehicle struck a Ford Taurus which was traveling southbound. ….MORE

New Jersey: Volovihiy Myhajl hit truck head-on, charged with DWI

HACKETTSTOWN — After a three-vehicle crash at routes 182 and 57, Hackettstown police charged Volovhiy Myhajl, 28, of Mansfield Township with driving while intoxicated.
On Nov. 10 at about 9:40 p.m., police went to the scene of the crash and determined that Myhajl was driving south on Route 182 in a 2004 Dodge Van when he attempted to make a right turn onto Route 57 and hit head-on a 2002 Ford truck driven by Patrick Dierling, 38, of Newton.

Texas: cops say Lourdes Lopez took her car load of kids for drunken joy ride; ended in crash with 4 sent to hospital

HOUSTON — Charges were pending Sunday evening against a suspected drunk driver who police said caused a crash that sent four children to the hospital.
It happened in the early morning hours at the intersection of Fry Road and the Interstate- 10 feeder in west Houston.
Authorities said 22-year-old Lourdes Lopez was driving north on Fry and ran the light. That’s when her Jeep SUV was t-boned by an eastbound pickup truck.
The impact ejected a 12-year-old boy from the Jeep. Three other children ranging in age from 1 to 9 were also badly hurt.
The children were transported by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Lopez and a 45-year-old man who was riding in the front passenger seat were being treated for non life-threatening injuries. …MORE
