A Lakehead man has been arrested for suspected DUI after crashing the car he was driving and killing his 19-year-old passenger.
According to the CHP, 20-year-old Dylan A. Johnson was driving a 2006 Subaru Forester north on Lakeshore Drive south of Mammoth Drive around 1:39 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a turn in the road, crashing into a planter box and a tree before rolling the SUV.
According to the CHP his passenger, 19-year-old Ynnek J. Semrad, also of Lakehead, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Semrad died from his injuries.
The CHP believes Johnson was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was transported to Shasta Regional Medical Center where he was treated for minor scrapes and bruises and released. …..MORE from Redding.com
