California: Palm Desert Police charge Daniel McCollum with DUI-Drugs for rear-ending Jetta on Frank Sinatra

dui-cinco-0105/01/2015 – According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 12:31 PM, officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision on Frank Sinatra Drive west of El Dorado Drive in the city of Palm Desert.  Officers arrived within minutes and learned that a silver 2005 Volkswagen Jetta wagon was traveling eastbound on Frank Sinatra Drive when it rear-ended a gray 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

The driver of the Sonata was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the Volkswagen, Daniel McCollum, 28, of West Edmonds Washington, was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  McCollum was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, but released due to his injuries.  Charges will be filed on McCollum with the district attorney’s office.

05/01/2015 —  Police report that on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at about 2:30 a.m., officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to the intersection of Dinah Shore Drive and Portola Ave, in reference to a single-vehicle traffic collision. The investigation revealed that a silver Chevy Impala was traveling eastbound on Dinah Shore Drive approaching the intersection with Portola Ave. The Chevy failed to stop for the stop sign and proceeded through the intersection colliding with a raised center median.

Gerardo Bautista charged with DUI in crash Palm Desert Police 050115

The driver of the Chevy, Gerardo Bautista, 36, from Indio , was found to be driving his vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Gerardo Bautista was not injured as a result of the collision. Gerardo Bautista was later booked into Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio for driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

05/01/2015 — On Monday, April 27, at 8:31 A.M. the La Quinta Police Department responded to a minor injury collision on Washington Street near Avenue 47 in the city of La Quinta regarding a minor injury traffic collision.  The driver, Chesley Kidd-Thompson, age 20 of La Quinta, was traveling southbound on Washington Street and fell asleep. Kidd-Thompson collided with the west curb, a street sign and another vehicle traveling southbound.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a medical facility for minor injuries. Kidd-Thompson was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Kidd-Thompson was taken to a local area hospital as a precaution prior to being booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio.

05/01/2015 — On Monday, April 27, 2015 at about 4:31 a.m., officers from the Rancho Mirage Police Department responded to the intersection of Monterey Ave and Country Club Drive, in reference to a single vehicle traffic collision. The investigation revealed that a brown Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Monterey Ave. approaching the intersection with Country Club Drive. The Honda veered to the left and collided with the raised center median and a street sign.

The driver of the Honda, Jose Contreras, age 26 from Palm Desert , was found to be driving his vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Jose Contreras was not injured as a result of the collision. Jose Contreras was later booked into Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio for driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
