According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Cardoza, on Friday, April 1, 2016, at approximately 11:35 PM, officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department were dispatched to a traffic collision in the parking lot of a shopping center in the 16700 block of Lakeshore Drive.

Officers arrived within minutes of the call, and subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford S.U.V. collided with a support beam attached to the roof overhang in front of a restaurant closed for the evening. The collision caused the support beam to be pushed back several feet. Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the traffic collision.

Nicolas Joseph Gonzales, 24-years old, and a resident of the City of Lake Elsinore, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was transported to the Southwest Detention Center.
