California: Sonoma District Attorney Jill Ravitch says Juan Banda Jr.’s felony DUI calls for lengthy prison term

District Attorney Ravitch stated, “Despite his young age, Banda is no stranger to the criminal justice system. His actions in this case and his past conduct completely justify a lengthy prison term.”

Tennessee: Joyce Darlene Scott had booze and drugs cocktail in her blood; gets 18 years in prison for DUI homicide

Prosecutors with District Attorney Charme Allen’s DUI Unit obtained a conviction on Oct. 16, 2015 for a crash in which the passenger of the impaired driver lost his life. Joyce Darlene Scott, 50, pled guilty to Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and was sentenced to serve eighteen years in the Tennessee Department of Correction. Scott had two prior convictions for DUI at the time of the crash.

On the evening of July 4th 2014, after viewing a Fourth of July fireworks display in South Lake Tahoe, Richard Schwab and his wife Kelly Schwab were returning home to Dixon on Highway 50 when their motorcycle was struck in a cross-over collision by Hickel’s vehicle going in the opposite direction in the Twin Bridges area.

Nevada: Jesse Michael Todd sentenced to 20 years for DUI death of bicyclist

A Jack Daniels whisky bottle discarded by the defendant was found at the scene and investigators estimated Todd’s blood alcohol level was .159 at the time of the accident. The minor, who had just finished the last day of his sophomore year at North Valley High School, was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
