CALEDONIA – Three goats at Swan’s Pumpkin Farm were put down Tuesday, after an early morning car crash involving an alleged drunk driver.
Ken Swan, the owner of the farm at 5930 Highway H, said he woke up at about 3 a.m. after a vehicle veered off the road.
The driver drove through the petting pen, severely injuring three goats, Swan said. The driver also drove through the yard, smashing about 40-50 pumpkins, and drove up onto a deck, breaking a bay window in the party barn, Swan said. Several other goats were also wounded and they are monitoring their condition, Swan said. …MORE

Illinois: Quintin Wissmiller’s jaunt on a ATV ends with dead pony; DUI driver’s crash left Shetland with broken back

A Yorkville man was charged with driving an all-terrain vehicle under the influence after he struck a Shetland pony that had gotten loose in Kendall County, officials said.
The accident happened early Sunday at 3 a.m. as Quintin Wissmiller, 33, was driving a Polaris Ranger ATV on the 11500 block of Brisbin Road in Yorkville, said Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy Craig French.
Wissmiller was driving the vehicle on the road when he struck the pony which had gotten loose from a nearby home, said French. Officials had to euthanize the animal because the animal’s back was broken from the impact, French said ….MORE
