Booze likely in final cruise of Eliud Vasquez as he flew off curve at high rate of speed into tree

Seaford – The Delaware State Police are releasing the name of the 31-year-old Bridgeville man that was killed in the early Sunday morning crash as Eliud Vasquez.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred east of Seaford.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, August 13, 2017, as a 31-year-old Bridgeville man was operating a 2003 Hyundai XG sedan northbound on King Road just north of Dove Road at an apparent high rate of speed.  While attempting to negotiate a moderate right curve on a rain soaked roadway, the operator lost control, causing the car to rotate in a clockwise direction off the east side of the roadway.  The front of the Hyundai then struck a large tree causing a violent rotation, partially ejecting the driver, while simultaneously striking a second tree before coming to a stop.

The 31-year-old operator was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this case.  King Road was closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
