(Frankfort, KY) – – Kentucky State Police report that on Monday, December 8th, 2014, Trooper Eddie Whitworth and Trooper Brian Miller responded to a disturbance complaint at 611 Shumaker Drive in Simpsonville, KY.

Justin Cottrell had fled the scene intoxicated in a 1993 Chevrolet truck. Trooper Whitworth observed the vehicle traveling east on US60 in Shelby County.

When Trooper Whitworth engaged his emergency equipment and attempted to stop the truck Mr. Cottrell sped up reaching speeds of 101 mph.

Cottrell, during the pursuit, returned to his residence where he drove his truck into the home. Simpsonville Fire Department responded to extricate Mr. Cottrell from the vehicle at which time he was arrested.

The driver of the vehicle, Justin Cottrell, age 31, of Kalamazoo Michigan, was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Off (Aggravated), Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), and Speeding. Additional charges are pending from the Simpsonville Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police, Post 12.
