Kori E. Lane charged with DUI fatal crash

On May 20th, just after midnight, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to Griggstown Road at Salyer Creek Road in reference to an injury, single vehicle, crash. According to a citation filed by Deputy Anderson the vehicle had been driven by Kori E. Lane age 18 of Paducah. The investigation by Deputy Anderson revealed that Lane was operating the vehicle in a reckless manner and at high speed. The investigation further revealed that Lane had been drinking. The passenger in the vehicle, Sierra Jones age 16 was pronounced dead at the scene. Kori E. Lane was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 – 1st Offense and Murder. Deputy Anderson was assisted in the investigation by Detective Nathan Maxlow, Sergeant Jason Lane, and Officer Ryan Moore of the Benton Police Department. There were many agencies that responded to assist with this tragic crash. Some of these include the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Benton Police Department, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, Marshall County EMS, and Palma Briensburg Fire Department.

On May 29th at approximately 8:21 pm, Sergeant Tim Reynolds arrested Justin Isaiah Wilson age 26 of Paducah for Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc ( Aggravating Circumstances ) 2nd Offense. Wilson was intoxicated in his vehicle in the parking lot at a business in Draffenville. SGT. Reynolds was assisted by Deputy Chris Greenfield.

On May 29th, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to US 68 West in reference to a possible DUI driver. He located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Deputy Greenfield’s investigation resulted in the arrest of Corey Lee Herndon age 38 of Paducah on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle U/ Influence ALC/Drugs/etc .08 1st Offense and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. A small child was in the vehicle.

On May 28th, at approximately 11:56 pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Little Bear Highway in reference to a possible DUI driver. Deputy Greenfield found the vehicle just after it was parked at a residence on Little Bear Highway. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Wendy Baker on the following charges:
Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 ( Aggravating Circumstances 2nd Offense and No Operators License.

 

 

On the evening of May 23rd, Sheriff Kevin Byars investigated an injury crash on Jackson School Road. When Sheriff Byars arrived, it was reported that the driver of one of the vehicles had fled the scene. Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies and Benton Police Officers responded to the scene and began to search for the suspect. A short time later, Major David Maddox located the suspect in a field. Ronald T. Fleet age 42 of Benton was taken into custody without incident. Fleet was charged with DUI 3rd Offense, Operating on Suspended Operators License, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. After being transported to Marshall County Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries received in the crash, Fleet was transported and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On May 22 at approximately 9:50 pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was on Rudd Lane answering a Harassment complaint. He was speaking to two complainants, Aaron Matthews and his girlfriend outside of their home. Aaron was obviously intoxicated and continued to yell obscenities and interrupt while his girlfriend made the report. He was yelling for Deputy Greenfield to ” order drugs ” and yelling obscenities. Deputy Greenfield placed Matthews under arrest for Alcohol Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On May 18th at approximately 3:15 pm, Deputy Dennis Lewis served an indictment warrant and arrest warrant on Dustin R. Frazier age 24 of Hopkinsville. The arrest warrant was for failure to appear in Christian County Circuit Court. The Marshall County Indictment warrant charged Frazier with Operating a Motor Vehicle U/ Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 – 1st Offense, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense – Methamphetamine, No Operators License, Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Poss, Failure of Non-Owner Operator To Maintain Required Insurance and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.

On May 13th, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to Purchase Parkway in reference to a single vehicle crash. After the investigation, Deputy Anderson arrested the driver, Corey W. Clark age 18 of Calvert City was charged with Operating A Motor Vehicle U/ Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 1st Offense.

On May 14th, Sergeant Jason Lane received a call from dispatch in reference to a motorist calling about a reckless driver striking barrels at the construction area at the 41mm of Purchase Parkway. SGT. Lane and Deputy Josh Anderson found the vehicle stuck in the median at the 40mm. As a result of the ensuing investigation, Seth J. Reddick age 25 of Bardwell was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle U/ Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 ( Aggravating Circumstances ) 1st Offense.

On May 14th, Deputy William Strader and Deputy Cory Curtner were dispatched to a store in Draffenville as there was a possibly intoxicated person who was shoplifting. As the matter progressed, Officer Caleb Curtner of the Benton Police Department and SGT. Tim Reynolds from the Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist. When officers arrived, the suspect was locked in the bathroom from where the officers recovered several empty bags of food that had been eaten but not paid for. Deputies observed that he appeared manifestly under the influence and they also found a warrant for his arrest. Matthew C. Moss age 26 of Benton was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking – Shop Lifting, Public Intoxication – Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest, Menacing, Terroristic Threatening, and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree. During the arrest, one of the deputies vehicles was damaged by the suspect kicking.

On May 14th at approximately 10:35 pm, Sergeant Tim Reynolds responded to a store in Hardin in reference to a report of an intoxicated person. SGT. Reynolds stopped the vehicle nearby and as a result of the investigation, Robert B. Phillips, age 30 of Benton was arrested and charged with the following:
Operating a Motor Vehicle U/ Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 1st Offense
Failure to Notify Address Change to Dept of Transportation
Drug Paraphernalia Buy / Poss
Trafficking in Marijuana Less Than 8oz 1st Offense
No Registration Plates
The driver indicated smoking marijuana, taking Xanax, and methadone. Small baggies of marijuana that appeared to be prepped for sale were found.

On May 7th at approximately 11:00 pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield conducted a traffic stop at US 68 and George Clark Road on a vehicle with expired tags. A passenger in the vehicle was found to be the owner and was given a warning for expired tags. The continuing investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Gary Wayne Stamper age 36 of Benton for Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 Aggravating Circumstances 1st Offense and Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Possess. Deputy Greenfield seized used syringes and other items from the vehicle.

On May 7th, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on KY 95. As a result of the investigation the driver, Melissa E. Kornegay age 28 of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 Aggravating Circumstances 1st Offense.

On May 3rd at 10:52 pm, Deputy Dennis Lewis was dispatched to the ramp from Purchase Parkway to US 641 in reference to a single vehicle crash. According to the citation filed by Deputy Lewis, Upon arrival, he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver. Upon investigation, the driver Rachel L Clark age 36 of Kuttawa was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 1st Offense. Deputy Lewis lodged Clark in the Marshall County Detention Center. A short time later Marshall County Detention contacted Sergeant Tim Reynolds and reported that they had found a controlled substance in the clothing of Clark. According to a citation filed by SGT. Reynolds, Deputy Jailer Sara Wood found two Hydrocodone pills in the underwear of Clark. SGT. Reynolds charged Clark with Promoting Contraband 1st Degree and Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. Clark remained lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On May 2 at 2:27 pm, SGT. Eddie McGuire was dispatched to Draffenville in reference to a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, SGT. McGuire observed that the driver appeared intoxicated. The investigation revealed that the driver had taken Lortab. Thomas E. Wooten age 64 of Benton was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of ALC/Drugs/Etc 1st Offense Agg. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
