Daniel T. McLeod charged with DUI in death of Shane House

REPUBLIC, MISSOURI — Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the death of Shane A. House, 25, of Springfield, Missouri on May 21, 2017, was the 36th traffic fatality of 2017 for Troop D.

Arrested and charged with killing House and injuring Amanda $. Medlin, 24, of Springfield, as well as Brayden T. McLeod, 22,  was Daniel T. McLeod, both of Republic, in the crash of a 2012 Dodge Challenger on Terrell Valley Road one-half mile south of Republic, Missouri in Christian County.

The 4:00 am wreck was investigated by Trooper T. W. Meyer and crash team Sgt. B. K. Talk who reported that the Dodge ran off the roadway and overturned.

House was declared dead by the Christian County Coroner Mandi Armitage.  Medlin was taken to Cox South by Lifeflight and both McLeod’s refused treatment on the scene for their minor injuries.

Police report that none of the occupants of the Dodge were wearing seat belts.

The trooper wrote that McLeod’s eyes were “watery, glassy, and bloodshot,” his “speech was slurry,” he gave off “an overwhelming odor of alcoholic beverages” and was “swaying side to side” while seated, according to the statement.

McLeod told the trooper he had been drinking vodka prior to the crash.

“I had too much and I rolled the car,” McLeod told the trooper, according to the statement.

Shane A. House killed by DWI driver Daniel T. McLeod in Republic Missouri May 21, 2017

Shane A. House Jr., age 25, of Republic, MO, formerly of Williamstown, NJ, passed away suddenly on May 21, 2017.

Shane was a hardworking man who loved his family more than anything. Shane enjoyed fishing, snowboarding, watching his Eagles and Flyers play and listening to country music. Most of all, he loved being with his sisters. Shane will be missed but never forgotten.

Beloved son of Shane A. House, Sr. and Melissa A. House (nee Ryan). Loving brother of Ariel House and Breanna House. Dear grandson of Albert & Elizabeth House, Patrick Ryan & Terri Naphy Ryan and great grandson of Theresa & Robert Naphy. Loving nephew of Patrick Ryan (Beth), Laura Ryan, Terri Ryan, Liza House, Michelle House Thomas, Angela House and the late Bethann Simone. He is also survived by his unborn child and many loving cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a service will be held at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in Cross Keys Methodist Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family c/o the Farnelli Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
