North Las Vegas, Nevada – 12/23/2015 – A 35-year-old man is arrested after hitting and killing a man in North Las Vegas.

On Saturday, December 19, 2015 at about 9:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Hamilton Street in reference to a crash involving a 24-year-old man on a moped.  Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the man dead on scene.

Investigators learned that a Toyota Camry fled the scene after hitting the 24-year-old victim.  A neighboring police agency located the suspect, identified as David Coleman (35), and the striking vehicle at Las Vegas Boulevard and Bonneville Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident.

Witnesses reported Coleman traveling at a high rate of speed southbound in his Toyota on Las Vegas Boulevard when he struck the man on the moped, who was also traveling south on Las Vegas Boulevard at Hamilton Street.  Alcohol also appears to be a factor in this case.

Coleman was arrested and booked for felony driving under the influence resulting in death, felony duty to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, and felony reckless driving resulting in death.

The decedent’s identity and cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.
