RENO, Nev. — 01/26/2016 — A Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, according to records and multiple law enforcement agencies.

Nevada Trooper Christopher J. Wirtanen, 39, was booked into the Washoe County Jail on Friday morning on violation 484C.110.2A: DUI alcohol and/or drugs 1st offense, according to jail records.

Reno Police Officer Timothy Broadway said Wirtanen was arrested at around 2:30 a.m. on Friday. According to Reno Municipal records, bail for Wirtanen was set for $2,000, but he was released on his own recognizance.

Nevada Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer David Gibson confirmed that Wirtanen is a trooper and was off-duty at the time of his arrest. ...MORE
