 Leandra’s Law Arrest – Child Passenger Protection Act

LOCKPORT, NY – On the above date and time, patrol responded to Allie Brandt Bowling Lanes following a report from the principal of Anna Merritt School, that a bus driver left the school transporting 32 children to Allie Brandt Lanes; and appeared to be intoxicated.

Deputies interviewed the driver in the parking lot of the bowling alley shortly after the bus was unloaded of students (no injuries occurred to students). Diane M. Nelson, 58 of Lockport was charged with Felony Leandra’s Law DWI, Operating a Commercial Vehicle While Intoxicated, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (32 Counts).

Nelson was arraigned in the Town of Lockport Court on the above charges and bail was set in the amount of $15,000 cash/$30,000 property. Defendant was remanded to the Niagara County jail pending a future court appearance in the Town of Lockport on November 29, 2016, at 1300 hrs.
