New York: State Police note dozens of DWI arrests thru October 2012

On October 28, 2012, Princetown based state police charged Matthew C. Borst, 23, of Princetown, NY, with driving while intoxicated. The charges followed the investigation of a one car accident on Weast Road in Princetown where Borst had driven his car into a ditch. At the State Police Barracks in Princetown a breath test measured his blood-alcohol content at .10 percent. Borst is scheduled to appear in Princetown Court on November 7, at 7:00 P.M.

Failing to stop at stop sign was first clue as to DWI
On October 30, 2012 at 1:30 A.M., Troopers observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at Scotland RD and Bloomingdale Rd in the Town of Newstead. The vehicle continued into the Town of Alabama where it ran off the roadway into a ditch at the corner of Meadville Rd and Skye Rd. The operator BARRY J. MARTIN, age 26 of Gowanda NY was found to be intoxicated.
He was processed at SP Clarence where he consented to a breath test which resulted in a BAC result of .20 %. The .20 % BAC result is more than twice the legal limit of .08%. MARTIN was charged with Aggravated DWI which resulted from his BAC reading being above .18%.
He will appear in Town of Alabama Court on 11/27/12.
Two passengers in the vehicle were also arrested JEREMIAH J. JACOBS, age 30 of Niagara Falls was arrested for False Personation for giving a false name to the Troopers, he will also appear in Town of Alabama Court on 11/27/12 and CODI SUNDOWN age 22 of Alabama was found to have an Assault 3rd Degree warrant from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department. He was turned over to them for arraignment.

Douglas Baker Charged with DWI
On October 27th, 2012, Trooper AARON KAWADO arrested DOUGLAS BAKER, 27, of Cherry Creek, for Driving While Intoxicated. BAKER was pulled over on Falconer Street in Jamestown for speeding, and after failing several field sobriety tests, BAKER was placed under arrest. BAKER was transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .13. BAKER was then processed, issued tickets, and  is scheduled to appear in the City of Jamestown Court next month.
Donald R. Cooper Charged with DWI
On October 27th, 2012 Troopers from SP Machias arrested Donald R. Cooper, age 43, of Hamburg, NY for Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st (felony). At approximately 8:40PM State Police stopped Cooper’s vehicle on State Route 98 in the Town of Freedom. Subsequent to the stop Cooper was found to be intoxicated and unlicensed. He was arrested and transported to SP Machias where his BAC was determined to be .10%. Cooper was arraigned and held on bail.

Troopers in Collins arrest Brant man for Aggravated DWI
IRVING – On October 26th Troopers arrested 29yr old Gerald Johnson of Versailles Plank Rd in Brant for Aggravated DWI, after the car he was driving was stopped on St Rte. 438 in Irving at approximately 8:30 pm. Mr. Johnson failed roadside sobriety tests and was processed at SP Collins. His BAC was .23%, nearly three times the legal limit of .08%. He’s due in Brant Town Court next month.
Jacob Redenbach Charged with DWI
Clarence, NY – October 19, 2012 — New York State Troopers in Clarence arrested Jacob Redenbach, 22, of Akron, NY after failing field sobriety tests subsequent to a traffic stop on Lewis Road for speeding. Redenbach was processed at SP-Clarence and submitted to a breath test of .13%. Redenbach was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Village of Akron Court on a later date.
Man found sleeping behind the wheel in Clarence was arrested for DWI
On October 19, 2012, at approximately 5:45 A.M., The Harris Hill Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 4670 Harris Hill Rd., in the Town of Clarence for male found sleeping behind the wheel of an idling car, blocking the southbound lane of Harris Hill Rd.
After the driver was awaken by the Fire department, the driver attempted to leave the scene as the keys were removed by Fire personnel.  Subsequently, Trooper Gonsowski out of SP Clarence responded to the scene and interviewed the driver, Michael P. Donaldson, age 21, of Cheektowaga, NY, who appeared to be intoxicated as he sat in a 1992 Nissan Sentra.
Donaldson was arrested after he was given Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Donaldson was transported to the Clarence station where he submitted to a chemical test, which resulted in a BAC of .15%. He was later released and turned over to a third party, and was scheduled to appear before the Town of Clarence Court, on 10/25/12, at 7:00 P.M.
Jamestown woman arrested for DWI
On October 14th, 2012, Trooper JOSEPH KRYWALSKI arrested VANESSA BUCK, 26, of Jamestown, for Driving While Intoxicated. BUCK was pulled over in the Kwik Fill parking lot on Route 60 in Jamestown for failing to dim her high beams, and after failing several field sobriety tests, BUCK was placed under arrest. BUCK was transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown where she provided a breath sample of .10. BUCK was then processed, issued tickets returnable to the Town of Ellicott Court, and released to a sober individual.
State Police Make DWI Arrest While Investigating a Personal Injury Auto Accident

On October 14, 2012, State Police investigated a one car personal injury auto accident on ST-400 at the Transit Rd. northbound off ramp in the Town of Elma. Investigation at the scene revealed that Jordan D. Petrocci, 22, of Weedsport, NY was exiting ST-400 on to the Transit Rd ramp when, due to his imprudent speed, he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle traveled over the guide rail rolling approximately 3 times and coming to rest at the bottom of the embankment. Petrocci was transported to the Erie County Medical Center by Springbrook Ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Speeding and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Petrocci is to appear in the Town of Elma Court at a later date.
Jamestown man arrested for DWI

On October 13th, 2012, Trooper AARON DESTRO arrested FRANCIS SOUTHWICK, 34, of Jamestown, for Driving While Intoxicated. SOUTHWICK was pulled over on Beechview Street in Jamestown for driving erratically, and after failing field sobriety tests, SOUTHWICK was placed under arrest. SOUTHWICK was transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .14. SOUTHWICK was then processed, issued tickets returnable to the City of Jamestown Court, and released to a sober individual.
TROOPERS MAKE DWI ARRESTS OVERNIGHT
The New York State Police based out of the SP Elma barracks arrested MELISSA R. FLACK (age 30) of West Seneca, NY, for DWI after stopping her for driving without headlights at approximately 11:50 PM Friday night on Transit Rd in the Town of Elma. She was processed at SP Elma where her reportable BAC was 0.10%, and she is to return to the Town of Elma court on November 1, 2012.
The New York State Police based out of the SP Elma barracks arrested JAMES WEINHEIMER (age 21) of West Falls, NY for DWI after stopping him for Failure to Keep Right and Moving From Lane Unsafely at approximately 3:15 AM Saturday morning on Transit Rd. in the Town of Elma. He was processed at SP Elma where his reportable BAC was 0.11%, and he is to return to the Town of Elma court on October 18, 2012.

Felony DWI arrest in Jamestown
On October 9, 2012, Trooper AARON KAWADO arrested JAMES SURRENA, 42, of Jamestown, for Felony Aggravated DWI. SURRENA was pulled over on East 2nd Street in Jamestown for driving erratically, and after failing several field sobriety tests, SURRENA was placed under arrest. SURRENA was transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .18%. As SURRENA’s driving record revealed a DWI conviction within the preceding 10 years, the charge was upgraded to a felony. SURRENA was then processed and taken to the city jail where he was held pending arraignment.
Speeding leads to a DWI arrest in Elma

On October 7, 2012, at approximately 3:20 AM, State Police Troopers Barry and Turnbull stopped a vehicle for speeding 70 mph in a 45 mph zone on Jamison Rd in the town of Elma. The operator MICHAEL J. FORD, 44, of East Aurora, NY failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for Driving while Intoxicated.
FORD was processed at SP Elma where he recorded a BAC of .16 %. He was charged with DWI and issued tickets returnable to the town of Elma Court on October 25, 2012. Speeding leads to DWI arrest overnight

Speeding leads to DWI arrest
The New York State Police based out of SP Elma arrested DAVID LITCHKE, 48, of Aurora, NY after stopping him for speeding (48 mph in 30 mph) and Failure to Dim headlights at approximately 12:45 AM this morning, on Buffalo Rd, in the town of Aurora.
Litchke was transported to SP Elma where his reportable BAC was 0.14%.  He is to return to the town of Aurora court on October 17, 2012.
Clarence State Police make DWI arrest

On September 29, 2012, Clarence State Police Members arrested Mary Anne Sharkey, 52, of Clarence, NY for Driving While Intoxicated. Sharkey was traveling northbound on Wehrle Drive in the town of Lancaster when she pulled over due to the fact she knew she should not have been driving. Investigation as to why she had pulled over revealed that she had been drinking and under the influence of alcohol. She was subsequently arrested and transported to SP Clarence for processing where she refused to submit to a chemical test. Sharkey was released to appear in the town of Lancaster Court at a later date.
Accident on St-219 results in D.W.I. Arrest
On September 29, 2012, at approximately 7:00 P.M., Trooper Krawczyk out of SP Boston responded to a 2 car property damage auto accident on St-219 north bound, in the Town of Boston, involving a 2006 pickup that rear ended a passenger vehicle after following too closely.
Upon Trooper Krawczyk’s arrival to the scene, he identified the driver of the pickup as, Donald P. Rott Jr., age 52 of Buffalo, New York, who appeared intoxicated and was given Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Rott Jr., was subsequently taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to the Boston station where he submitted to a chemical test, which resulted in a BAC of .09%.
Rott Jr. was later released after processing and was scheduled to appear before the Town of Boston Court, on 10/15/12 at 6:00 P.M.
SPEEDING LEADS TO DWI ARREST OVERNIGHT
The New York State Police based out of the SP Clarence barracks arrested BRYAN B. SHEEHAN (age 21) of Lockport, NY for DWI, after stopping him for speeding (58 mph in 45 mph zone) on Transit Rd in the Town of Clarence at approximately 2:30 AM this morning. He was transported to SP Clarence where he refused to provide a breath sample. In addition to the DWI and speeding charges, he was charged with Failure to Signal and having an Open Container of Alcohol in a motor vehicle. He is to return to the Town of Clarence court on October 9, 2012.
State Police make felony DWI arrest
On 9/23/2012, Troopers in Batavia arrested Robert L. Murray, 36, of Darien, NY following a routine traffic stop on State Route 5 in the town of Batavia. During the traffic stop, Mr. Murray was found to have consumed alcohol prior to driving. He failed several standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). He was transported to SP Batavia where he provided a breath sample revealing a blood alcohol concentration of .15%.
Further investigation revealed a prior conviction for DWI within the previous 10 years, elevating the present charge to a Felony. Murray was processed and arraigned in the town of Batavia Court where he was released on his own recognizance, to re-appear at a later date.
Failure to use turn signal and erratic operation leads to DWI arrest overnight
Boston-based State Police based arrested MICHELE PECKEY, 46, of Hamburg, NY for DWI after stopping her on Southwestern Blvd. in the town of Hamburg at approximately 12:45 a.m. Saturday. She was observed failing to use a turn signal, and failing to use designated lane.
Peckey was processed at SP Boston where she refused to provide a breath sample. She was issued tickets returnable to the town of Hamburg court.
Stockton resident arrested for DWI
A Stockton man, Francis Orazio, was arrested on September 16, 2012, for DWI. Orazio was charged with Driving While Intoxicated after being stopped for Driving to the Left of Pavement Markings and Moving from Lane Unsafely. He is to be arraigned in the town of Pomfret Court on October 23, 2012.
