Illinois: bail for Erick A. Lopez reduced by Judge Donald Panarese Jr.; held for DUI death of highway worker Jose Tafoya

Bail has been reduced for a 19-year-old man who was allegedly drunk when he crashed in a construction zone a week and a half ago, killing a worker and injuring several others.

Erick A. Lopez, of the 3700 block of 83rd Place, was charged with three felony counts of reckless homicide in a construction zone, aggravated DUI resulting in death and aggravated DUI resulting in bodily harm after the fatal crash in the 4900 block of South Western Avenue about 4:15 a.m. on June 21.

The suspected drunk driver in a fatal crash in Palm Springs is also accused of leaving the scene with the victim’s scooter lodged in his pickup’s front end.

The suspect, David Buckley Doyle, 55, of Palm Springs, was driving south in his 2004 GMC pickup truck on North Indian Canyon Drive at about 11:34 a.m. Friday, Palm Springs Police Lt. Mike Kovaleff said.

California: Scott Charles Hampton charged with hit and run DUI as he bid adios to wreckage

The driver of the pick-up was identified as Scott Charles Hampton, age 56 of Palm Desert, who was determined to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. No one was injured as a result of the collision and the roadway remained open during the investigation. Hampton was arrested and booked into the jail located in the city of Indio for suspicion of driving under the influence. Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the collision.
