UPPER DARBY – A man on his way to work and another man coming home from a night in the city collided on Marshall Road Friday night, resulting in the death of a Lansdowne man and charges of DUI and homicide by vehicle against the other.

Gregory Hayes, 47, of the 200 block of Braddock Road, was pronounced dead 11:12 p.m. Friday at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Coverly and Marshall roads

Salome A. Seay, 30, of the 200 block of Coverly Road, in the Lansdowne post office section of Upper Darby, was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle DUI related.

“This is a tragedy that should never have happened,” police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “The guy on the motorcycle is a Philadelphia School District police officer who was on his way to work the midnight shift. He’s married and the father of two small kids. He had on a helmet, had the right of way and did everything right. ….MORE
