Derrick Nunziante fired as Horry County firefighter after DUI in BMW

Myrtle Beach, S.C. — 03/11/2015 — An Horry County firefighter is charged with driving under the influence following a weekend arrest and was no longer employed with Horry County Fire Rescue on Monday, according to Lisa Bourcier, Horry County spokeswoman.

Derrick Nunziante, 33, was arrested after officers stopped his BMW about 1:30 a.m. March 7 on Robert Grissom Parkway near U.S. 17, according to a police report.

Police said they saw Nunziante’s car rapidly slow down after passing them, and a traffic stop was initiated.

Officers said Nunziante’s eyes were red and glassy, he had trouble removing his driver’s license from his wallet, and his speech was slurred, according to the report. Read more
