A Fountain Inn man was denied bond Wednesday after a motorcycle crash near Landrum left a 19-year-old woman dead and a man fighting for his life .

Harley Simms Beck, 42, is charged with felony DUI resulting in death and felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury. Magistrate Judge Danny Burns denied bond during a hearing at the Spartanburg County jail.

Investigators say Beck’s white pick-up truck drove into the back of a motorcycle around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 14 near Lexington Road .

Chloe Allison Duncan, of 1551 Bailey Mill Road, Travelers Rest, was a passenger on the motorcycle and died at the scene. The motorcycle driver, James Blackwell, was severely injured and taken to the Spartanburg Medical Center, where he remained Wednesday …MORE

The highway patrol says a man is charged with felony DUI for an accident that killed a teen and seriously hurt another person.

It happened near Landrum on highway 14 at Lexington Road around 5:30, Tuesday.

Harley Simms Beck, 42, of Fountain Inn was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Pickup truck when he rear-ended a motorcycle on highway 14.

Chloë Allison Duncan, 19, was the passenger on the motorcycle during the crash, troopers say. Duncan was ejected from the motorcycle, she wasn’t wearing a helmet, and she died at the scene, according to the SCHP.

The motorcyclist, from Travelers Rest, also wasn’t wearing a helmet and was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for his injuries, troopers say. He’s in critical condition, according to Spartanburg Regional. ….MORE
