The S.C. Highway Patrol has charged Joseph Dewayne Knox with three counts of felony DUI in a triple-fatal head-on crash last October.

Three people, including two from Rock Hill and one from Chester, were killed Oct. 23 when police say Knox’s 2006 white Ford van struck a pickup truck head-on.

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker identified those who died as Anthony “Tony” Lynn Roof, 46, of Chester; Willie James Perry, 76, of Rock Hill; and Sir Lawrence Darby, 53, of Rock Hill.   MORE

Obituary for Anthony Lynn Roof

Mr. Anthony Lynn Roof, 48, died Sunday, October 23, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at the home of Gordon Roof, 1252 Goldmine Rd., Chester, SC with Rev. Ronnie Green officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Roof was born October 7, 1968, in Chester, SC and was a son of Gordon N. Roof and the late Diane Williams Greene. He was a carpenter.

In addition to his father, Gordon Roof of Chester, he is survived by one son, Tristen Lakota Glenn Millwood of Chester; one daughter, Heather Nicole Roof of Edgemoor; two brothers, Randy Roof and Neely Roof both of Chester; one grandchild, Marshall Allen Slade McCarty of Edgemoor; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, Mr. Roof was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Roof.

Obituary Willie James Perry, 76, of 332 Pursley St. Rock Hill, SC died Sun Oct 23, 2016, in Chester Co. He was born 9-20-1940 in York Co. to the late Willie Perry Jr. and Willie Mae Anderson Perry. He attended York Co Public Schools. He was a member of Boyd Hill Baptist Church and sung on the Hymn Choir, President of Church Aid Society, worked in the sound room and drove the church van.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Mrs. Phillis Perry, sons Willie James Perry, Jr. of the home, Ronnie Perry, daughters Debra Morgan, Sara (Charlie) Blake, God-daughter Dorethea (Reco)White, Latricia (Ellis) Boyd, Valerie Hardin, sisters Nannie Adams, Bettye Eliott, Hattie Harris, brothers John E. (Nacy) Perry, Phillip D. Perry, Robert F. Perry, Edward L.S.
