A Ridgeland man with a long list of driving offenses will spend more than 14 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to charges in a drunken-driving crash that killed a 29-year-old mother and her two young sons.
Franklin Jeffery Bostick Jr., 23, was convicted of three felony DUI charges in Jasper County General Sessions Court in connection with the Sept. 9, 2011, crash.
Bostick was driving 98 mph on S.C. 462 in Ridgeland just after 10 p.m., when he crossed the center line and collided with a car carrying four people, according to the state Attorney General’s Office. Bosticks’s blood alcohol level was .158 — nearly double the legal limit, prosecuting attorney Heather Weiss said Wednesday. He also tested positive for marijuana use, she said.
The victims, Wendy Garcia Orozco, and 6-year-old Francisco “Frankie” Orozco were pronounced dead at the scene. Jacob Orozco, 2, died at the Medical University of South Carolina three days later….MORE
