SUNSET BEACH — Catawba County district attorney Eric Bellas was placed on administrative leave after being charged with driving while impaired Monday night.
While at Sunset Beach Bellas, 45, and was charged with DWI by the Sunset Beach Police Department after a bicycling accident.
When the police charged Bellas with driving while impaired, he refused an alcohol test, said Lisa Massey, chief of the Sunset Beach Police Department. However, no blood was drawn to get his blood-alcohol level.

SHERRILLS FORD, N.C. — A young man who lost his mother in a deadly car crash is calling on law enforcement to arrest the 43-year-old alleged drunk driver who troopers believe caused that crash.
