Illinois: Bloomington Police Sgt. Troy Doza charged with DUI after wreck; he gets paid leave and $100 bond

BLOOMINGTON —2013-11-12— An off-duty Bloomington police officer is on paid administrative leave following a crash that led to his weekend arrest on drunken-driving charges.
An Illinois State Police report shows Sgt. Troy Doza, 45, was driving west on Fox Creek Road near Springfield Road shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday when his car went off the road, struck a utility pole and overturned. He was taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, for minor injuries and then arrested and taken to McLean County jail.
Doza was later released after posting $100 and his driver’s license on charges of driving under the influence and improper traffic lane usage. His blood-alcohol level was not available Monday.
On Monday, Police Chief Brendan Heffner said Bloomington officers initially responded to the crash, but Illinois State Police, at BPD’s request, were called to handle the investigation.
