LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA. — According to a report in the Advocate Acadiana Lafayette Police arrested Seth Allen Spell, 23, of Jennings, Louisiana for operating while impaired after he ran down a 3-year-old child with his truck on Feb. 27, 2011 as the child waited with a crowd for a parade to begin.
Spell was driving his truck with two children under the age of 4, when he entered a street which had been blocked off for a Krewe Carnivale en Rio parade just after 7 pm.
Spell was charged with attempted murder, OWI, fleeing police, having an open container in his truck, driving while suspended and child endangerment.
The child was treated and released for injuries.
The newspaper reported that when Spell blasted out onto the closed roadway he accelerated causing many people to jump out of the way. ….MORE
