FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (Dec. 4, 2012) – The man accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a 16-year-old Michigan teen on Interstate 77 in November was out of jail on awaiting trial for a previous DUI, according to a background check.
Highway Patrol investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.
“Each fatality has a family, each fatality has a story behind it,” said Lance Corporal Billy Elder with South Carolina Highway Patrol.
This story was written the night of Sunday,November 18th around 7 p.m. just north of exit 41 on I-77 south. Authorities are still investigating the crash so they have released few details, but investigators say a 2000 model Saturn driven by Ricky Deel of Beaufort hit a2004 Dodge Durango. “The Dodge had seven occupants in it, one of those was deceased as a result of this crash, a 16 year-old male,” said Elder.

Sept. 22, 2012 — A horrific crash on Highway 17 Business between Highway 544 and the front gate of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base killed at least one person.
It happened about 1:20 p.m. across from Pirateland Campground in the southbound lane of 17 Business.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says a Jeep heading north crossed the grass median and hit a van that was going south head-on.
There were six people in the van. One of the passengers was killed. That person’s name has not been released pending notification of the family.
The other five were taken to the hospital.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) — South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday night on SC 34, about 10 miles east of Newberry.
Investigators say that 29-year-old Michael Livingston of Charleston was driving his pickup truck when he slowed to make a left hand turn.
Officials say 35-year-old Charles Stuck was behind the pickup in his jeep and was unable to stop. Stuck crashed into the left side of Livingston’s truck.
According to Highway Patrol, Stuck and his passenger, 31 year old Timothy Stuck, were ejected from the vehicle. Both men were taken to Palmetto Richland. Their conditions are unknown.

ROCK HILL (March 21, 2011) – Troopers arrested 11 people for driving under the influence this weekend at checkpoints on Interstate 77 and Highway 49.
The DUI crack down in York County was one of four operations across the state, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
