A vigil was held in Beaumont Wednesday night to honor DWI fatality victim Amber Roussel of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Tuesday marked the 1-year anniversary of the 32-year-old’s death.
Family and friends gathered where the accident happened on Interstate 10 near the Martin Luther King Boulevard exit.
Flowers and balloons were left at the accident scene.
Authorities say Derek McBride, the person responsible for Roussel’s death, had been drinking at Hooters on Interstate 10 before the crash.

Melba Braud hasn’t seen her daughter’s “blue sapphire eyes” in almost six months, but she felt her presence on Monday.
“Amber was in the courtroom today,” Braud said after a court hearing for Derek Wesley McBride of Bronson.
McBride, 25, is accused of causing the fatal car accident on Interstate 10 that killed 31-year-old Amber Roussel of Louisiana on July 30 last year.
McBride, who was indicted in November on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, made an appearance Monday before District Judge John Stevens.
Stevens was visibly angry when he learned that McBride did not have an interlock system in his car, which was required as part of McBride’s release
