Virginia: Anthony Deanes hit and run after crashing into Virginia trooper in work zone; jailed on DUI charge

According to Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya a Virginia State Trooper on duty in a construction zone was hit from behind by a drunk driver who fled but was captured.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:21 a.m. this morning on I-264 eastbound at Rosemont Road in Virginia Beach. Investigation reveals that the Trooper was in the safety work zone when he was struck in the rear by a 2005 Subaru station wagon.

The driver, Anthony Deanes, 53, fled the scene of the accident and was located shortly after with the assistance of Virginia Beach Police Department.

Deanes did not suffer any injuries from the traffic crash and was taken to Virginia Beach Jail where he was charged with felony hit and run, driving under the influence, felony assault, and damage to state property. The Trooper suffered minor non-life threatening injuries and has been treated and released.
