Virginia: State Police report alcohol a factor when Daniel Eli Yoder died when he crashed into a tree

Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya reports that on November 18, 2017, at approximately 7:09 PM, the Police was called to investigate a single-vehicle crash on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, which killed a repeat offender DWI driver.
The accident occurred at the 15000 block of Horsey Road, in Accomack County. The driver of a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, was traveling eastbound on Horsey Road towards US Route 13 when the driver ran off the road and struck a tree.
The driver, 56-year-old Daniel Eli Yoder, of the 600 block of Saxis Road, Sanford, Virginia, died at the scene.
Police report that Yoder was not wearing a seat-belt and alcohol was a contributing factor.
Yoder entered a guilty plea to DWI in Worcester County District Court on May 9, 1998, after being arrested by Maryland State Trooper L. Banks on Jan. 30, 1998.  Yoder was stopped for speeding while northbound on Market Street south of Eleventh Street.  Yoder was given a plea deal with 90 days in jail. THE DEAL: In return for making it easy on prosecutors by not having to prove the DWI case in court, Yoder entered a guilty plea and 84 days of his sentence was suspended. He was fined $295.00.
