MARINETTE — An off-duty Marinette police officer cited last week for drunken driving returned to work less than 24 hours after the incident and will not be placed on administrative leave, Police Chief Jeff Skorik said Monday.
Zachariah Slivinski, 26, of Peshtigo, was cited about 11:45 p.m. last Thursday after his motorcycle collided with one driven by a Marinette County sheriff’s deputy in the 1900 block of Hall Avenue. Slivinski, a three-year night patrol officer, reported to work on Friday.
“The reason that someone would be put on administrative leave would be if I wasn’t confident that he would be able to perform his duties as required, or if by him reporting to work it would somehow impede the internal investigation,” Skorik said, adding there was no timeline for when that investigation would be complete….MORE
