We had another patrol car hit this afternoon on I-80 east of Cheyenne. The Trooper was out of his patrol car investigating a rollover crash and assisting motorists who had slid into the ditch.

We are very thankful our Trooper was out of the car helping a motorist stuck in the snow when a pickup traveling too fast on the ice covered road crashed into the patrol car. No injuries were sustained from the crash.

Even with six other law enforcement vehicles, WYDOT trucks and tow trucks on scene conducting traffic control of the scene after the crash, motorists were still traveling through the crash scene at 65 and 70 mph on the ice.

Please slow down and/or move over on the approach of stopped emergency vehicles! This is one of the biggest dangers first responders face in adverse weather conditions.
