A Mesa police officer escaped serious injury when his arm got caught in the car of a suspected drunken driver and the officer was dragged across a convenience-store parking lot as the driver attempted to escape.
Police Lt. Bryan Soller was treated for a shoulder injury at a hospital and released, according to police.
After a pursuit, police arrested the driver, Raymond Dawes, 31, on suspicion of several counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. .
