Indianapolis, IN. – Beginning today, more than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies, including the Indiana State Police, will step up patrols in a statewide crackdown on impaired and aggressive drivers. Earlier this week, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) and the Governor’s Council on Impaired & Dangerous Driving announced their support of the effort, which ends on March 20. ….MORE
Indiana State Police nabbed 54 drunk drivers in northern section of state during January
Fort Wayne-The Indiana State Police in Fort Wayne have released statistics for the month of January 2011. Troopers issued a total of 1733 traffic citations and 3179 traffic warnings. Troopers also arrested 54 drunk drivers and made 174 criminal arrests.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Fort Wayne Post worked 16 new cases and made four criminal arrests, all of which were felony arrests. There were a total of 126 cases drawn by both troopers and detectives.
The four K-9 teams of Troopers Shultz (Gunnar), Shenefield (Beau), Neuenschwander (Smokey) and Carroll (Deezle) had between them, a total of 28 searches which yielded 14 arrests, and assisted other agencies on 10 occasions. They also seized two grams of crack cocaine, 30 grams of ecstasy 31 grams of marijuana.
