Alaska State Troopers DUI arrest reports for Jan. 17, 2016
WASILLA, ALASKA – On 1/15/16 at approximately 2245 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a highly intoxicated male, operating a dark colored Chevy Cruze, leaving a bar in the Wasilla area. AST located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Winona St. near Seldon Rd after observing a moving violation. The investigation revealed the driver, Rick Hodgson, age 44 of Wasilla, was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Hodgson was arrested for DUI and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with bail set at $500.
On January 16, 2016, at 0447 hours, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch in Fairbanks off Palo Verde Drive, with the driver passed out behind the wheel. AST responded and contacted the driver, Alfredo Quiroga, age 49, of Fairbanks. The investigation revealed Alfredo was Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Alfredo was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for his charge.
On 1/15/2016 at approximately 2001 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a red sedan for a moving violation on 5th Avenue and Sanford in Tok. An investigation revealed the driver, Earl W. Kain (56 YOA, Tok) was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Kain was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transported to the Tok State Trooper Post. Bail was set at $1,500.
On 1/13/16 at about 0830 hours, Michael Lee Baldwin, 48, of Sterling, was contacted by Soldotna-based Alaska State Troopers at a residence off Kelcee Lane in Sterling following a report of an intoxicated male who crashed his vehicle into another vehicle and into a residence off Jim Dahler Street in Soldotna, causing damage to both. Subsequent investigation revealed Baldwin was driving his pickup when he struck the complainant’s vehicle and his porch before leaving the area. Baldwin was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving with a Suspended License, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, and Criminal Mischief 5th degree Domestic Violence. Baldwin was transported and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial without bail.
On 1/15/16 at 0106 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser at mile 52.5 of the Parks Hwy for speeding.  The investigation revealed the driver, Abra Lleshi, 26 of Anchorage, was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Lleshi was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where she was remanded into custody with bail set at $500.
On 1/13/2016 at about 1058 hours, the Aniak-based Village Public Safety Officer contacted the occupants of a red Honda four-wheeler, which had been recklessly driving on Airport Road. The driver at the time, Marie Anne Davis (21 yoa of Fairbanks) was arrested for DUI after she was observed to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and failed standardized field sobriety tests. Marie was transported to the Aniak State Trooper Post pending transport and remand to YKCC in Bethel.
01/12/2016, 14:10; a Northwest Arctic Borough, Village Public Safety Officer in Shungnak investigated an intoxicated person on a snow machine outside the community’s store. The investigation revealed that Gary Ticket, 35, of Shungnak was driving a 2013 Polaris snow machine after consuming alcohol and impaired. The ticket was released after the investigation was completed and summoned to appear in court for the charge of Driving Under the Influence.
The Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks contacted John Decker, 41 yoa, of Fairbanks during a traffic stop. Decker was arrested for driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Decker was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for at 1346 hours.
On 1-13-16 at 0548 hours the Soldotna Public Safety Communication Center received a report of a vehicle in the ditch off of Cannery Road in Kenai. AST responded to the area and contacted Steve Leffel, age 37 of Anchorage, driving a 1994 Ford truck. The vehicle was being pulled out of the ditch by a friend. AST investigation revealed Leffel was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Leffel was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility for Driving While Impaired with a bail of $500.
