California: Bakersfield man guilty of 2nd degree murder; gets 15 years of hard time for fatal DUI

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. —
A man accused of second-degree murder in a drunken driving crash just a few weeks after he was convicted on another DUI was sentenced to 15 years Wednesday on a charge of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Mark Patton, 50, was accused of driving drunk on Nov. 26, 2008, just days after a previous conviction of driving under the influence and crashing into 45-year-old Martin Martinez, killing him.
Patton was original charged with second degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol causing bodily injury, driving under the influence with a .08 blood alcohol level causing bodily injury, hit-and-run causing death or permanent serious injury and……MORE
