Temecula, Calif. — 2013-09-20 —According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, September 15, 2013, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to the area of the 29000 block of Pujol Street, Temecula, regarding a reported traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle. Upon the officers’ arrival, along with other rescue personnel, they discovered a male juvenile in the roadway of Pujol Street who was suffering from major injuries and was taken to a local hospital by medical personnel.
Further investigation revealed the male juvenile, a 6-year-old resident of Temecula, ran into the roadway from behind a parked vehicle and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Pujol Street. Several witnesses were located at the scene and assisted in the investigation. The driver of the vehicle, Bradley Megginson of Temecula, was not injured and remained at the scene. Mr. Megginson was interview by investigating officers and was arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center for Vehicular Manslaughter.
At this time of the investigation, alcohol involvement is suspected as a factor in this collision and the investigation is continuing. The roadway was closed for approximately five hours while members of the Temecula Police Department’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team conducted their investigation.
