California: Cops say DUI driver killed couple in crash and fled; manhunt nabs Vincent Muniz Montes and his passenger

SHANDON, Calif. — 2013-08-19 — A suspected drunken driver was arrested after a collision that killed two Bakersfield residents and an air and ground search Saturday, according to the Taft Midway Driller.

The crash occurred on Highway 46 just west of Shandon in eastern San Luis Obispo Saturday afternoon.

The driver, a 69-year-old man, and a 68-year-old female passenger were killed, the CHP said.

Their names have not yet been released.

The California Highway Patrol said Vincente Muniz Montes, 38, was driving eastbound on Highway 46 in a Jeep near McMillan Canyon Road.

Montes made a left turn into the path of a Toyota Matrix driven by the Bakersfield man.

The two vehicles collided, and a Nissan Versa driven by Suzi Ling Ghov, 39, also crashed into the Jeep.

Ghov suffered minor injuries.

The suspected drunken driver was not injured in the crash and fled with his passenger, Florencio Ochoa Rojas, 27, on foot into Shandon. ….MORE
