California: Court of Appeal rules that DUI killer may not have gotten perfect trial but it was fair — goes to prison for 15 years

The state Court of Appeal has rejected a motion by a woman seeking to overturn her conviction for second-degree murder in a drunken-driving crash that killed a District Attorney’s Office investigator three years ago.
The appeals court published its decision in the case against Ashley Johnigan last week.
Johnigan, in her mid-20s, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in November 2009 after a Santa Maria jury found her guilty of murdering Laura Cleaves in the May 1, 2008, collision in the Santa Ynez Valley. Johnigan lived in Santa Barbara at the time. …..MORE
