According to Redding Police, on May 20, 2015 a man who was reported to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol stole an airport baggage vehicle and drove it out to a parked jet before attempting to hijack the jet.

Police say that at 6:40 pm officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the Redding Airport after receiving a report of a male that had gone onto the tarmac without authorization. The male stole an airport baggage vehicle, drove it for a short distance and then got onto a privately owned jet.

He was contacted by airport security while on the jet and the male had put the pilot headset on as if he was attempting to steal the aircraft. The male was making irrational statements about needing a plane due to his daughter being kidnapped. Security was able to talk the suspect off the aircraft. Once the male was off the aircraft, security tried to place the suspect into custody. The male began to violently fight with security and was pepper sprayed. The suspect fled from the guard and ran into the Jet Center bathroom.

Redding Police arrived and took the male into custody without further incident. He was identified as Anderson resident Allen Ray Booth, 37 years of age.

Booth was booked into the Shasta County Jail for vehicle theft, attempted theft of an airplane and battery on a security guard. Booth was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. It appears Booth was in a drug induced delusional state. There is no indication this incident was related to any type of terrorist act.
