SARATOGA — A San Jose man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of DUI after an accident claimed the life of a passenger in the car he was driving in a remote area west of Saratoga, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Edson Marin, 30, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Golf at an excessive speed while heading north on Skyline Boulevard near Charcoal Road at about 7:35 p.m. Thursday, CHP officials said.

The car veered off the road, hit a tree on the passenger side and then fell down a 60-foot embankment before colliding with a fence, according to the CHP. ….MORE
