California: Jesus will be lining his ducks up in a row to explain to Judge why he was DUI in La Quinta

2013-09-27 — According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sergeant Randy Wedertz, on Friday, September 27th, at about 6:14 AM, officers  from the La Quinta Police Department responded to a single-vehicle non-injury  traffic collision at the intersection Avenida Montezuma and Calle Arroba.

The driver of a White Ford pickup truck was traveling westbound  on Calle Arroba. The driver failed to stop at the intersection, continuing  westbound to collide with a dirt and boulder berm.  The  collision caused the pickup truck to become stuck on the dirt berm. The  driver was contacted by La Quinta police officers and they  observed the driver showed symptoms of intoxication.  Field sobriety test were  administered, after which time the 30 year old La Quinta resident, Jesus  Varela, was arrested and booked at  the Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio for driving while under the  influence of alcohol.

The La Quinta Police and the Riverside County  Sheriff’s Department caution all motorists to never drink and drive. All  drivers are encouraged to immediately call 9-1-1 if they see a suspected drunk  driver on the roadway.
